01 ☾ Video ☾ The Good Left Undone

[ There's a minor noise of fumbling, a soft 'aw, Hell' before the feed actually starts up. There's a man in his thirties on the screen, bespectacled and squinting quizzically into the camera. There's a whorl of brown hair falling stubbornly between his eyes. There's a moment of staring, a twitch of the camera as the man seems to be experimenting with the device.
A graze of fingerprints.
The feed cuts. ]

[ It returns, about a minute later, and there's the same appraising look before the man's features relax and he offers a tight, awkward smile to the network at large.
For two men in particular on this ship, the appearance of this scholarly-looking young gent will be rather cosmically coincidental, considering recent gift-giving and accidental broadcast...

Well um... hey out there? I dunno if I got this all figured out right, but hopefully my voice is transmitting.
My name's Daniel - Daniel Dreiberg. I guess I'm what you call fresh on the boat.
[ The slightest little grin; he thinks he just made a funny. ]
I'm one of your new Wardens. I'm from New York, 1985, for anyone that's interested in that sorta thing. I know I am. I wonder if there's anyone out there keeping a record of that sorta thing...?
[ He clears his throat, pushes his glasses further up his nose. ]
Right. I just thought I'd say hello out there to everyone... Looking forward to meeting everyone, all that jazz.
I was also wondering if anyone'd be open to showing me around the place? I mean, I could do it on my own if I had to, but I'd appreciate company and maybe a veteran eye on things. Not sure what you'd like in return for your time, but... If you wanna leave the mess hall for last, I could at least try to give you a good lunch?
